It's funny how some words sound like they should mean something completely different than they actually do.
For instance, if I call you a "darb," you should thank me. If I call you "vacuous," I am insulting you.

Wanted: Mutually Satisfying Weirdness
I Can't Walk...
The title is taken from an excellent song to run to by Maroon 5 entitled, "Not Falling Apart." The irony kills me.
I have been meaning to write a post about my lovely little Marathon. Two weeks later, here it is.
I went up to stay at my Gparents on Friday and ran the marathon on Sat. Here is an outline of events surrounding those two happy days.
On Friday I:
Though the weekend was quite the eventful one, I loved it. I finished in just over 5 hours, kinda slow, but had a goal to not walk the whole way. And as I loved telling people after, "I didn't walk and now I CAN'T walk!"

On Friday I:
- Finished a final
- Bought new socks (they protected my princess feet from blisters. Miracles happen)
- Left my apartment without my running shoes (minor detail)...went back
- Went home for dinner
- Left home without directions to the marathon from my grandparents house...went back
- Got to my grandparents 3 hours later than originally planned
- Had a dream where it was time to go and so got up to go
- My phone read 12:28
- Stared at my phone til it changed so I knew it wasn't broken
- Woke up for real at 4
- Drove to SLC
- Took the wrong tracks up to the start line (with over 50 others...)
- Started the race late because the line was so long for the bathroom
- Ran
- ....ran

- and ran
- Finished
- Couldn't walk (sang Maroon 5)
- Wandered the parking garages of SLC trying to find my car...for a good 40 mins. (Please take a minute to visualize: pregnant sister that had to go to the bathroom and practically crippled just-finished-running-26-miles sister wandering, looking for a car that the said cripple forgot where it was parked). Ask me. I can laugh about it now.
- Went down the wrong street to get back on the freeway
- Took the wrong exit to get off the freeway (7 min detour, no prob)
- Home, Sweet Home.
- Dinner, Sweet Dinner.
- 7 pm: Crashed.
Though the weekend was quite the eventful one, I loved it. I finished in just over 5 hours, kinda slow, but had a goal to not walk the whole way. And as I loved telling people after, "I didn't walk and now I CAN'T walk!"

30 Before 30
Last year I made a "30 Things to do Before I'm 30" list. It's my list so it's subject to change, as it has. So here is the new and improved. And I get to cross one thing off. :)

5. Learn French
6. Learn Spanish
7. Ride in a Hot Air Balloon
8. Go on an archaeological dig
9. Get married

Oh the things I see
Yesterday, again on my way to campus (this time way too early for my liking -- Chemistry final...), I noticed a license place saying "Lipid Dr" so naturally I texted my med student sister, Angel. Her reply: "yesterday I saw one that said 'nematode.'"
Hahaha I love science. Especially people obsessed with it.
This reminds me of the time Angel gave someone a stuffed toy white blood cell for their birthday.

All In One Morn
Today I walked to campus barefoot so I could get to work on time. I was still late.
Dang blisters.
I'm kind of grossed out by that. But who am I to judge? They're probably in love or really like sweaty hands or something.

Dollar for my thoughts?
I wonder how many people, when pondering life's meaning, end up just looking "life" up in the dictionary and call it good.

Life, you have treated me far too well.
About a month ago, I was able to go see a lady from Rwanda get baptized into the LDS church. She had been in Rwanda during the genocide and her family had all been murdered in that massacre. She escaped death by being an aide in the hotel where Paul Rusesabagina had been temporary manager and housed over a thousand Tutsi's. I'm not exactly sure when she came to the states, but she had taken care of my friend's grandfather for awhile and that's how I was able to learn about her and eventually meet her.
It amazes me how people are able to move on after facing tragedy. And losing your family is what I see as one of the most tragic things that could ever happen. It says a lot about her ability to forgive. To see her so happy on her baptism day just reaffirmed to me that we can get through anything and be happy again. There is a God who knows and loves us and will help us in this regard.
And also, I learned that any "problems" I may have, aren't so bad after all :)
If you don't know much about the Rwandan genocide, I recommend the film "Hotel Rwanda" or the book "Left to Tell" by Immaculee Ilibagiza.
